Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in Britain, and East Lancashire now has a club to match the enthusiasm. At the end of January 2026, Slazenger Padel opened a new venue on Haslingden Road in Blackburn.

The club is a substantial one. Covering 30,000 sq ft, it houses nine indoor padel courts, giving players a weatherproof place to enjoy the game whatever the Lancashire sky is doing.

There is more than padel on offer. The Blackburn site also includes two pickleball courts, which were reported as a first for the Slazenger Padel brand, catering for another racket sport that has been finding new fans across the country.

The club was designed with the social side of the sport in mind. Lancashire Business View reported that it offers coaching, a members' bar and a pro shop, making it somewhere to linger after a match as well as to play.

Its arrival is a big step for the county. An earlier Lancashire news report noted that operational padel venues had been scarce locally, with sites in Lytham and Clitheroe among the few, and a number of new projects around Preston and Chorley are still at the planning stage.

Blackburn was one of the first clubs in a wider national push. Slazenger said it planned at least ten new clubs in 2026, around 150 courts in total, and the brand later opened its fourth venue in Exeter, following Leeds, Swindon and Blackburn.

For anyone new to padel, it is an easy sport to pick up. Played in doubles on an enclosed court with walls in play, it is sociable, quick to learn and suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities, which helps explain its popularity. Many newcomers find themselves hooked after just one or two sessions, and indoor courts mean the season never really has to end.

Court bookings, coaching sessions and membership details are available through Slazenger Padel. Whether you are an experienced player or simply curious, it is worth booking a session and seeing what the fuss is about.
